Racist remarks are cruel,

we all learned this in school.

Yet, the words continue to flow,

letting go of hate is rather slow.

When a group is punished for one,

is that better than to simply shun?

For innocent co-workers suffer too,

collateral job loss, what can they do?

What is gained by a network’s reaction,

does it promote love or satisfy a faction?

Will punishment ever wipe out hate,

or will kind rebuke seal its fate?

Poem by David Andre (Kuhn) Davison
