The Trip Home

A warm, sunny breeze soothes my face,

as my tiring body pauses in this tropical place.

Soon, it’s back on the plane I climb,

looking ahead to my next layover time.

Many more hours pass, on this extended night,

on my long Trans-Pacific, commercial flight,

Finally, I arrive in a world that is freezing cold,

where memories of winter begin to take hold.

Arriving in my homeland, a former way of life,

to a different culture, I introduce my foreign wife.

America the big, the home of the diverse,

where it’s time to re-engage memory reverse.
