Who or What to Love?

Should children obey their parents or listen to their peers,

who deserves their loyalty and calms their fears?

Do I love my spouse more than my secret friend,

on which one of these two, do I really depend?

Am I loyal to the country that I have sworn to protect,

or is a pay-off for espionage more important than respect?

Do I listen to my buddies, when filing my tax return,

and choose to deceive Uncle Sam regarding what I earn?

Is it important to support and help your best friend,

or do we do it for personal gain, a means to an end?

Am I a workaholic to the point it damages my health,

so that I can amass a great deal of personal wealth?

Is my number one priority in life to serve the LORD,

or is my goal to indulge in every vice I can afford?

For in the end as we look back on the life that we’ve led,

is money more important than God, when we’re dead?

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” – Matthew 6:24 (KJV)

Mamónas – riches, money, possessions, property. (Bible Hub)
