An idol of gold on a sparkling pedestal,
fresh citrus fruit left before it on a plate.
People bow to this man-made object,
with the belief that it controls their fate.
A celebrity adorned in shiny gold chains,
rings set with the finest stones and jewels.
They credit success to their own making.
attributing belief in the divine to fools.
The vanity of a powerful dictator,
convinced they control their own future.
That’s as likely as a severed head,
being reattached with a simple suture?
Neither an idol of gold or a human being,
can form a man or woman from scratch.
No person can predict every future event,
an earthquake, election, and boxing match.
Mankind didn’t just evolve from a monkey,
no animal is an ancestor or missing link.
Science thinks they can explain everything,
using complex formulas and logic to think.
God is the Creator of the universe,
His power beyond any range of thought.
He loves us more than we can understand,
and our sins His Son’s death bought.
Please show me a greater love from any god,
idol, or object that you choose to thank.
As for me I will believe in the power of God,
it’s a firm belief you can take to the bank.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
