America: Is anyone listening?

White-House-fence-to-be-topped-with-steel-spikes-to-deter-jumpers

When a man lives in a castle,

he may choose to live like a king.

But the stone barriers isolate,

placing him inside a protective ring.

*

Outside the walls and deep moat,

the average citizen struggles to survive.

While inside the safety of his palace,

the ruler and his riches thrive.

*

So goes it in the western world,

the Bastille of power and riches.

The inhabitant on Pennsylvania Avenue,

becomes too big for his britches.

*

Surrounded by an army of agents,

steel fencing, and a brick wall.

The commander-in-chief of our nation,

has the military at his beck and call.

*

He doesn’t fly economy or first-class,

on commercial flights like the average joe.

Instead he boards his spacious air palace,

flying him anywhere he wants to go.

*

How can the leader of the free world,

understand the struggles we face each day?

When they receive perks from the government,

including transportation, and a nice place to stay?

*

Some would say they have earned this right,

through a hard-fought campaign over time.

But should one person possess the power,

to control your life as well as mine?

*

We’ve had some terrible leaders,

over the better part of twenty years.

I’m not pointing my finger at just one,

so don’t start spouting political jeers.

*

Democrats and Republicans are alike,

Both hurting the reputation of the White House.

We have had a run of poor president’s

and at least one unlikable spouse.

*

Is there a better option for our country,

should we call for a Constitutional Convention?

Does the failure of our whole government,

require a people led lawful intervention?

*

Alas, few would might want to lead a country,

especially one so powerful in military might.

They would have to possess unbelievable patience,

and be motivated first by morality and right.

*

I can say with a certain amount of conviction,

that we’ll never find such a person on this earth.

It will only come about when the King of Kings,

returns in the sky not as a baby by birth.

*

So, say your prayers to our God above,

and make peace with your fellow woman and man.

For on that reckoning Day of Judgment,

we’ll see if we operated within God’s plan!

pray
