Is love at first sight nothing more than a response,
physical attraction that overpowers the senses?
Or can true love be found in a brief moment,
breaking through our natural defenses?
Do sexual urges rule our perceptions of the opposite sex,
defeating our logic and common sense?
Or is the higher brain in command of our faculties,
while emotions make us overwhelmingly tense?
When we get to know someone better,
do they become more attractive to us?
Can initial dislike ever turn to love,
changing a negative opinion to a plus?
Must you love a spouse as the Bible instructs,
even though you have been treated like trash?
Is love a duty established by regulation,
or is that attitude for us too brash?
Will poetic questions change our behavior,
our emotional responses to those we meet?
Or are we relegated in our modern ways,
to find our answer in the form of a tweet?
