The world is still in existence,
my eyes share this fact with me.
I rise slowly from my sleep,
and make my way to the TV.
Coffee is a must in the morning,
I fight the urge to return to bed.
My mind is lacking nourishment,
as I apply butter to my bread.
The reporter is flapping his jaws,
about some important news event.
In the end it is more opinion than fact,
a waste of nervous energy spent.
Some advice for your morning walk,
If you sleep naked I recommend,
that you make sure your dressed,
or your neighbor may see your back-end.
I stagger back home with bones that ache,
meds take the edge off the pain of age.
Oh to be back in the days of my youth,
now I feel like I’m in a senior cage.
As I switch back on the television,
hoping for some good news.
I see the host making excuses,
praising their personal political views.
The radio is my next option,
as I change the channels for my song.
Sometimes the wait is short,
but so much of the new music is wrong.
Let me try the internet for some relief,
I search for some pleasant information.
But instead of millions of options,
bad news dominates a troubled nation.
My eyes open as the next day dawns,
forget the unpleasant dream.
A new beginning for me today,
I raid the freezer for some ice cream.
As I taste the delectable treat,
my frown turns to a smile.
Maybe this will be a happy day,
a sugar infusion satisfies me for a while.
The moral of my story for you,
defies the standard logic of a proper diet.
When times are tough for each one of us,
let the nutritional experts be kept quiet.
Sneak off to the freezer door,
in the morning when you wake.
Help yourself to some ice cream,
and eat as much as your body can take.
While your health may suffer,
if you ignore the advice your doctor gave.
In the end you will have a nice smile,
as your body lies in your grave.
