Poem: Decisions

Decisions

By David Andre Davison

There is an important decision to be made,

and I can no longer wait.

I’ve put off this matter much too long,

but the answer will seal my fate.

It is a matter of conscience for me,

I detest being stuck for life.

Imagine spending many years,

having to deal with all the strife?

First of all, things I hate,

she snores like a dog at night.

Sometimes she perfumes the sheets,

but her choice of fragrance isn’t right.

Every day she serves me the driest food,

it’s tasteless and bland.

Is it an accident,

or something carefully planned?

There are good things about her,

like not getting scolded when I fart.

But she gives me the dirtiest looks,

and the silent treatment from the start.

I don’t know whether to stay here,

or find somewhere else to dwell.

If I decide to remain here,

my life could become pure hell.

Well, I’ll sleep on this matter,

and consider my options another day.

It’s very difficult being a feline,

balancing time between sleep and play.
