Poem: The Reality of Winning

You’ve shared your vision across the land,

a future with greatness for our nation.

A promise of jobs and lower taxes,

moving forward without hesitation.

***

Along the way you were introduced,

to people of different ethnic backgrounds and races.

Each one holds common dreams for their future,

hope reflected on their faces.

***

The race is over and the victory is yours,

a miracle of great magnitude.

At the top of the world you sit,

you’ll need great strength and fortitude.

***

America will look to you in times of trouble,

to help each citizen make a living.

They’ll fail to recognize the burden you’ll bear,

and the extreme effort you’ll be giving.

***

Alone at the summit of the mountain of power,

advice will be in abundance but without risk.

For others opinions are merely words,

swept away with a simple broom or whisk.

***

You alone will be the saint if you succeed,

popular with friends and foe.

But if you fail in any decision,

you must not let any weakness show.

***

Each person expects you to solve,

every problem in their life.

Your power is not absolute,

You can’t end everyone’s strife.

***

We wish you good luck Mr. President-elect,

your learning curve is only two months long,

In mid-January you’ll come to power,

and discern for America, right and wrong.
